Bursaries
Westminster School Bursary Fund

At Westminster, we are committed to widening access to talented and deserving young people who show exceptional academic ability, passion and potential for learning. We nurture a diverse, inclusive community of instinctive, inquisitive scholars, where ambitious and able pupils come together with highly qualified, inspirational teachers to extend, enrich and enjoy learning.

There are currently 60 Westminster boys and girls in receipt of full fee remission or who receive some level of bursary support; these awards total £2 million annually. We now seek to raise £2.5 million per year to support an expanded range of awards.

By supporting a greater number of young people through bursaries, we can not only transform their lives, but also create a more enriching and stimulating experience for all of our pupils and our whole community.

Your donation and the collective impact of donors at all levels coming together to support the Westminster School Bursary Fund can help to make a Westminster education possible for young people with the potential to flourish here. Thank you!

"Being accepted into Westminster School instilled within me the confidence that I can achieve anything regardless of social class, family background or upbringing. "

Ben Jonson Foundation

Established in 2018, the Ben Jonson Foundation is an endowment fund to support bursary places in perpetuity that we seek to grow through investment management and exceptional lifetime gifts, gifts in wills and gifts in memory. Over time, disbursements from this fund will complement the currently available funding provided from the Bursary Fund and other sources.

We value philanthropic partnerships with families, Old Westminsters and others wishing to ensure the accessibility of a Westminster education for future Westminsters of exceptional talent and promise.

Tax efficient giving in the UK

As a registered charity, all donations made to Westminster School by UK tax payers can be made tax efficiently, significantly increasing the value of your gift through Gift Aid at no extra cost to you.

Higher rate tax relief

If you are a higher-rate tax payer, you can claim tax relief on all your charitable donations, including donating your acceptance fee. By including information about your donations in your self-assessment tax return, this significantly reduces the cost of your donations.

Overseas giving

Westminster is registered with a number of foundations with tax-exempt status. This means that families living in the US and Hong Kong are able to benefit from tax deductions on their charitable donations. We would be happy to provide additional information.
